The Virginia Peer Support Association (VaPSA) is a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization formed in 2006 and is purposed with the training, certification and maintenance of Professional Peer Supporters (PSPs) in the Commonwealth.
To date, VaPSA has trained over 420 emergency service professionals. In addition to
certification, VaPSA provides resources to the individual peer supporters and their agencies to help build and maintain viable peer support teams.
VaPSA is mandated to serve all first responder agencies in the Commonwealth who are interested in developing and maintaining peer support teams. This is a unique level of service for those professions that are disproportionately affected by stress.
​​This service is offered through implemented Level-1 Peer Supporter training,
Level-2 Advanced Training for Administrators of Peer Support Programs, and Level-3 Train-the- Trainer education, as well as Continuing Education (CEU) Updated trainings.
